The communities along the Great South Bay are influenced by the bay itself. In my time in writing restaurant reviews for the Advance, I've reviewed quite a few fantastic seafood restaurants in Patchogue. My favorite review was of On the Waterfront in June 2007. The atmosphere was that of a worn lounge where fishermen and sailors go to have a pint and kick back. With the restaurant being situated on the bay the salty smell of brine and bay wafted in, and no, it wasn't overpowering. The hospitality was great, the food was fresh, and it was a great review.
